English Toy Spaniel Temperament
The English Toy Spaniel is affectionate, loving, gentle, cheerful and friendly. He's good with children and loves to play. He is highly affectionate and loves to cuddle you and sit on your lap. He likes to burrow into blankets and under pillows so be careful where you sit! He loves to sleep with you and is a natural hot water bottle! Some English Toy Spaniels are friendlier than others, but all have their preferred loved ones. And once they choose you, they become fantastic companions. They are incredibly devoted to their owners, and fiercely protective of them and their space. An English Toy Spaniel will want to be part of your family, and will be desperate to keep your attention. He can be a bit clownish and likes to show off and be entertaining. He is naturally well-behaved, bright, interested, and willing to please, although he does have a stubborn streak. He can be a bit mischievous, but he is very sensitive to correction. He can become shy when confronted with new people or situations, and can become overwhelmed in chaotic situations. These are robust dogs who love to go outside and play. However, they will chase birds, so they need to be kept on lead or in a fenced area. Just start early, because they can be difficult to leash train. The English Toy Spaniel is a great dog for an apartment, as they are soft and quiet dogs. They have a natural affinity for cats and make great pals for them.
