Our Goals:
Dogs give so much to us - we want to give something back to them!
We hope to decrease the amount of dogs who end up in shelters (or worse!). Our three main goals for this site are as follows:
- To accurately describe the personalities and physical characteristics of all dog breeds (eventually) - so people choose a breed that is compatible with them in the first place.
- To recommend adoption from a rescue group or shelter as a good source for obtaining a dog of the breed they have chosen.
- To recommend that people only purchase a dog from a responsible breeder, if they choose not to adopt. (Responsible breeders breed for one reason: to better the breed. They breed mentally and physically sound dogs. They test their breeding stock - both the sire and dam - for hereditary diseases common to that breed and they only breed that pair if they are cleared. And they do not breed for a profit - because there is rarely money left over if they are breeding responsibly.)
We make a donation to a handful of breed rescue organizations each year to show our appreciation for their efforts and to help them save more dogs. Here is the list of rescue groups we have donated to so far.
We hope that by providing ethical and responsible information about dogs our site will continue to grow in popularity and help more people to make the right decision when purchasing a dog.
